January 1, 2010- suckling kid preferred by many different cultures to celebrate the New Year.

February 26, 2010-  Islamic holiday celebrating the Prophets birthday

March 30-April 6 2010-  Passover: 30-55 pounds, fat and milk fed.

April 4, 2010- Western or Roman Easter: Three month old or younger milk fed kids with light colored meat, acceptable weights are generally in the 20-50 pound range. 30 pounds is optimum.

April 4, 2010- Easter or Greek Easter: similar to western or Roman Easter only slighter larger with 35 pounds considered optimum.


May 5, 2010 Cinco De Mayo: 15-30 lb. live weight suckling kids for cabrito and large weaned kids for BBQ and seco de chivo.

July 4th, 2010-  Cabrito kids for small parties and larger goats from weaned market kids to does, to large wethers and yearling bucks for large celebrations.


August- multiple Caribbean Holidays- Carnival, Carnifest, Jamaican Independence Day and more: Smelly 60-80 lb bucks are preferred but also older animals of all sexes are in demand


August 11, 2010- Start of Ramadan*can vary according to the actual sighting of the moon: Male and female kids with their milk teeth, no older than 12 months, males can be intact or castrated. 45-120 lbs with 60lbs being optimum.

September 11, 2010- Id al Fitr-The Festival of Sacrifice: same as above for Start of Ramadan.

Navadurgara or Navratra Dashara or Dassai-Hindu Holiday- date varies, usually in late Septmeber to mid October, goats are slaughtered between the 7th and 10th day of the holiday-Tender male goats are desired, size and weight depends on size of the celebration

November 17-20, 2010- Id al Adha: yearlings and sometimes large 60-100 lb kids that are blemish free, no broken horns, torn ears, sores or wounds and sometimes being castrated is frowned on.

October through March* estimate * Chinese culture prefers to eat goat meat during the coldest half of the year and they prefer 60-80 lbs live weight. The goats must be in good health.

December 8, 2010 Muharramn/Islamic New Year

Christmas- out of season milk fed kids, kids as small as 18 lbs can be accepted.
