The American Goat Federation
After nearly two decades of the hard work and the dedication of many, the goat industry has finally found a voice that will represent all segments of the goat industry in the capital of our nation in the American Goat Federation.
The American Goat Federation is an entity that will represent all segments of the goat industry along with all breeds, from the Boer to the
Pygmy goat. They will look after the interest of meat, dairy and fiber goat producers with the issues involving the federal USDA agencies and the US Congress.
Something the goat industry has been lacking and in desperate need of for some time. The lack of such an association has kept the goat industry from growing as strong as it is capable of and taking its place alongside other agricultural industries.
The American Goat Federation will make it possible to develop and create policies that are voted on and then brought by the American Goat Federation leaders to lobbyist to speak with federal policy makers in a unified voice and by having a unified voice to bring to the nation, the goat industry will be a stronger unit as a whole.
The American Goat Federation will be able to involve itself on our behalf when rules and regulations are created by federal agencies that will affect and impact us and our goat operations.
By having a unified voice through the American Goat Federation looking out for the goat industries needs, more research and education will be directed towards the goat industry which will be made possible through recommendations by the American Goat Federation to the USDA along with agencies involved with biological, economical and social issues that affect the goat industry.
The American Goat Federation will also be involved heavily with the marketing and the promotion of the goat industry and will work with all other member organizations and associations in combining and sharing information and data on enhancing marketing channels for their products.
In the years to come the American Goat Federation will enable the goat industry to finally takes its rightful place next to the sheep and beef industry by giving the goat industry an association who provides a united front to bring together all the segments of the goat industry into one strong, unified industry working together with a common goal regardless of whether the end product is goat meat, goat milk or goat fiber.
The American Goat Federation's interim Board of Directors includes a few of the MSMGA's own and I'd like to thank them and all the others involved in the past efforts, current efforts and all who will be involved in the future with the AGF.
